Faculty in Audiology
Lou Echols Chambers serves as the Audiology Clinic Coordinator. She has over 29 years of experience in the field of audiology and is certified through the American Speech-Hearing-Language Association (ASHA). She received her Master's of Science degree in audiology from Purdue University. Ms. Chambers has been employed in university and hospital settings. Her primary areas of interest include adult and pediatric aural rehabilitation, hearing aids, and hearing conservation procedures. She supervisees and mentors students enrolled in the Doctor of Audiology program. In addition, she teaches a graduate diagnostic audiology laboratory course and a course in professional, ethical and legal issues. Ms. Chambers coordinates all external placements for graduate audiology students and arranges for undergraduate students to observe in the Audiology Clinic. She is an ASHA Fellow and a member of the American Academy of Audiology. She is licensed as an audiologist and hearing aid dispenser in the state of Illinois.
Carol Parker has over 20 years of experience in the field of audiology and is certified through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Ms. Parker received her Master’s degree in audiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She worked in the Department of Otolaryngology at Carle Clinic in Urbana before joining the clinical staff at the University of Illinois Audiology Clinic. Ms. Parker’s main areas of interest are amplification (hearing aids and assistive devices) and aural rehabilitation with adults. She has extensive experience in diagnostic audiology, hearing aid fitting procedures, and the provision of hearing conservation services. Her primary responsibility is the clinical instruction and mentoring of graduate students in the Doctor of Audiology program. In addition, she teaches a graduate level amplification lab course and is integrally involved in the daily operations of the Audiology Clinic. Ms. Parker is a member of ASHA and a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She is a certified hearing aid dispenser and licensed audiologist in the state of Illinois.
